Living on the prairie, working as a staff writer and photographer for a small town newspaper.(some days I get paid to do what I've always done for fun on my day off) I am a peace loving liberal, wife, mom, grandma. If you don't GET sarcasm, I might piss you off.
This is in the hallway of my old high school looking towards the study hall. The Science room is on the left and the English room on the right. The school closed in 1982, a stranger came to town and bought the building, tried to open a toothbrush factory, and abandoned it after a short time. If you look close, there are pieces of toothbrushes on the floor. Nobody knows where he is, but he keeps the taxes paid, so legally, it can't be torn down. Its too bad, it could have been made into something pretty grand, but now it is dangerous. It is missing doors and windows, and there are always people exploring in it. I imagine there are plenty of critters in there too. It was several years ago, when I took this, using a 4 mpx point and shoot Nikon coolpix. 
Fall~
I took this photo a couple autumns ago at "Old Lake" Carthage near Carthage, South Dakota. I added a soft glow in HP Imaging to give it a "painted" look.
I love the way mama and papa geese work together to raise their brood. Here are two couples with all their children.
"Ghost in the Cemetery"
I took this using my Canon Rebel 35 mm camera with a timer and double exposure several years ago. I was surprised to see that the ghost (me) didn't have a head!
One beer and I'm ready for a nap~ I call this one " Party Pooped" This is an old picture I took with a 35 mm point and shoot. camera ( I don't even remember which one) and scanned to the computer

 We are in quite a Winter storm warning the next couple of days, 2 systems coming through, starting out with rain, freezing rain, (that freezing rain first is what makes it so treacherous for driving, or even walking) light snow, then a break tomorrow night and then heavier snow Friday. Last I heard they didn't want to predict how much, likely because they don't know, My arthritic knee tells me it's going to be a lot.
Looks like it is for the entire Eastern half of the state. We were extremely busy at work again, nothing like impending bad winter weather to bring masses of people to the grocery store!
I think a good plan for New Years is to stay home, drink hot chocolate (maybe laced with peppermint schnapps) and play Scrabble. ~ real Scrabble, not on the computer. We used to do that quite a bit, but it's turned into a once or twice a year thing now.
Last New Years Eve I was sick as a dog on the couch with the stomach bug guests brought us for Christmas, So anything we do will be better than that!

 All kinds of prints, animal and human in a small public wooded area on the edge of my town. I took this with the little Pentax Optimo camera I always have in my coat pocket when I go walking. There are rabbits, deer, squirrels, and all kinds of unseen critters living here.

 The city crew made a big old boulevard of snow when they cleaned off Main Street. They have been very busy!
When they get to it, they will load it up, and haul it out to a place on the edge of town in trucks. First they clear the streets this way so people can drive around town. Weird, that it was not all that cold today, it was 22 above when I walked to work at 8:00.
It wasn't the storm of the century, but it was pretty impressive. We hadn't seen this much at once for a few years. We didn't get the freezing rain crap under the snow, like they did in Nebraska. I talked to a friend of my son's who had come up from that way and said they saw all kinds of cars in the ditch from the previous night.
Usually when we get this much, it's in March and it's gone in a week. I'm afraid this will be sticking around a while. It's pretty now, but gets to looking dirty real quick.
 There's Donnie, a local guy , cleaning out our small parking lot at the store. Kids love our parking lot hill to sled down, but it makes me nervous, because ...well it's a parking lot, and we don't need a kid on a sled whizzing in front of a car, so we chase the kids away. There are plenty of other snow piles like this they can play on that don't put them in the line of traffic.
Grand kid, and bonus grand kids won't be here til dark tomorrow night, They are staying over, but I have to work Monday morn. Sure would have liked to get some pics of them~We might have to go out for some night sledding.
 | Oh yeah, we're gonna get hit! Maybe freezing rain-snow tomorrow, then from Wed thru Friday, significant snowfall, and it's Eastern South Dakota, so of course, there will be wind. Flat wide open prairies~Nothing to stop the wind.
I'll be carrying out groceries to cars in a blizzard. Between Christmas and a snowstorm, the grocery store will be wild! People are not smart enough to stock up ahead of time, stay home, warm, safe and alive
